Ahryz, Hordika by Lol-Pretzel Ahryz, Hordika by Lol-Pretzel
Name: Ahryz
Gender: Male
Race/Species: Onu-Matoran (Gen1) (formerly), Hordika
Occupation: Servant of Korrothis
Title(s): Toa, Archon
Prevailing Element: Shadow
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Affiliation: The Weave, The Kratoka, The Kranui
Typical Tool(s): Crushing Claw, Mask of Silence, Rhotuka Spinner
MOC Status: Disassembled
Theme: [link]

For a long time, Ahryz was a blacksmith for a small coastal village made up entirely of ga-matoran. The arrival of a makuta guardian to their island introduced many dangerous, experimental rahi - and Visorak. After getting a 'minor' scratch saving a captured villager from a group of them, the village's turaga handed Ahryz a toa stone.
The following morning saw a massacre of sleepy, drunken matoran as Ahryz transformed overnight into a fearsome, monstrous creature. Ia, a Korrothean Archon, was dispatched to investigate disappearances in the area of Ahryz' vollage. Using her psionic powers, she was able to calm the bestial side of the fledgeling toa where any other toa would have been forced to kill him. He later joined the Brotherhood of Korrothis as a lay member, and later became an Archon.
When Spherus Magna reformed, Ahryz's first and only act was to delve deep into the forests of Bota Magna in search of Ia, who had reportedly landed there during the crash of the Tomorrow. Neither Ia or Ahryz were ever seen since.

Ahryz had no toa training before becoming a hordika, and relies almost exclusively on physical strength and his powerful wings. His claw hand can crush nearly everything, and he is able to channel shadowy blasts through his rhotuka spinner, sapping his enemies of energy, or even opening small portals to the Zone of Darkness.

Moccers on youtube should come up with original characters, designs, ect,

Instead go on DA/mocpages and steal other people mocs and make videos and claim it as theirs.

The same design (minus the clicky joints) was used on my Tazzuk MOC. Hopefully there are enough photos there for you to get a good view of how it was done. Thanks btw ^^

Over several years, yes. Korrothis is pretty much the central location to the first half of my storyline.

What a fantastic creation! I really like his head design, and the part usage on the upper legs is great! Also nice to see you kept a Rhotuka launcher for him, gives him even more this "Hordika" look!

Excellent work as usual, mate. You put a lot of detail and effort into your MOCs. By the way, what does that acronym stand for?
By the way, there are some new Technic-like Marvel superhero kits that are out for Lego's most recent lineup. Maybe their parts could contribute to some new MOC designs.

What acronym?

And, I have seen them. Some parts look okay, but the second Breakout wave looks better. In any case, what with University next year, there's no real point in buying any new sets anyway.

What I meant by 'acronym' was the whole "MOC" thing. Does it stand for anything in particular?

A MOC is a lego model made from parts, as opposed to a shop-bought set.

What's the Kratoka, Letoka, etc?
Reply
:iconlol-pretzel:
Lol-Pretzel Featured By Owner Jun 4, 2012
"Toka" is the matoran word for spirit. Ie, Phantoka = "Spirit of the Mist", Letoka and Kratoka are Spirit of the Air, and Spirit of Shadows, respectively.

In the Weavic religion, they are the supreme, primal entities of the cosmos of each element. Matoran do not believe the Weavic spirits to be sentient, but they are still very much alive.

Isn't the Mata part of Mata Nui also another word for spirit - from what I know, Mata Nui means, literally, "Spirit Great."

So I take it that Kranui means "Shadow Great".

Hmm. Could you have a Letoka Nui?

On a slightly different note; how do the elements, in your storyline, work scientifically speaking?

Lol-Pretzel Featured By Owner Jun 6, 2012
With my storyline, I have it so Mata-Nui is the Lifelord. He's the one who founded the Weavic order in the beginning. Matatoka on the other hand, would be something far more on par with a divine entity.

Great One of Shadow, yes.

...There's only one Letoka, and it wouldn't have been made by the Great Beings anyway, so, no.

The elemental Weave was originally an ornate system designed by the Great Beings used to terraform. They found a way to acheive immortality within the Weave, and the majority of their creations (The Kanohi, Mata-Nui, the Bohrok, etc) use its power.

There are nine elements that make up the Weave; Air, Fire, Stone, Earth, Ice, Water, Light, Shadow and Time. Time is described as the force that causes the wheel of the Weave to turn, with Light covering Air, Fire and Stone while Shadow covers Ice, Water and Earth.

Different aspects of this cycle can strengthen or diminish, and when the balance is right, conditions are optimum for Life.

Scientifically speaking, elemental powers are a product of various structures made up of living protodermis within a being that allow the ability to channel energy associated with a certain arc of the Weavic circle. Other elements such as gravity, sonics and plasma are described as one of the main elements channeled in a slightly different way. A weavic beings powers are less reliable in the "wild" away from the Mata-Nui robot or any of the worlds it was associated with before it was destroyed. A toa on Earth would have to rely almost exclusively on his mask and tools.

So how does the soulforge work? I can't see where any of the elemental toa (copper, iodine, etc) would fit in to the circle of the Weave.

:iconlol-pretzel:
Lol-Pretzel Featured By Owner Jun 6, 2012
The Soulforge is partially a very intricate, accurate particle accelerator. The Great Beings engineered it, and very few beings are able to use it. Elemental Toa imbued with power over an element from the Weave have aspects of their powers replaced with the new element, so it not only depends what element a toa gains, but how well it ties to their own powers and element prior to conversion.

For example, a toa of air would benefit better from noble gas powers than a toa of earth.
