For a long time, Ahryz was a blacksmith for a small coastal village made up entirely of ga-matoran. The arrival of a makuta guardian to their island introduced many dangerous, experimental rahi - and Visorak. After getting a 'minor' scratch saving a captured villager from a group of them, the village's turaga handed Ahryz a toa stone.
The following morning saw a massacre of sleepy, drunken matoran as Ahryz transformed overnight into a fearsome, monstrous creature. Ia, a Korrothean Archon, was dispatched to investigate disappearances in the area of Ahryz' vollage. Using her psionic powers, she was able to calm the bestial side of the fledgeling toa where any other toa would have been forced to kill him. He later joined the Brotherhood of Korrothis as a lay member, and later became an Archon.
When Spherus Magna reformed, Ahryz's first and only act was to delve deep into the forests of Bota Magna in search of Ia, who had reportedly landed there during the crash of the Tomorrow
. Neither Ia or Ahryz were ever seen since.
Ahryz had no toa training before becoming a hordika, and relies almost exclusively on physical strength and his powerful wings. His claw hand can crush nearly everything, and he is able to channel shadowy blasts through his rhotuka spinner, sapping his enemies of energy, or even opening small portals to the Zone of Darkness.
