Built for round one of the Bio-Cup 2012, where I was tasked with building a toa with a vehicle or mount, against my opponent, Rennoc. Tenum is a former toa of air who accidentally switched elements to aluminium after an accident with the Soulforge. Gringat created The Kahu, a curious skybike armed with disc launchers and spearguns, to aid him in his Duty. More pictures, information, storyline and the BC2012 on MOCpages! [link]
Both Tenum and the Kahu take on a very nostalgic, saluting stance on the first and second world wars. Namely the brave pilots of Her Majesty's Royal Air Force. Tenum himself is built to look like a pilot, and the Kahu takes after fighter aeroplanes used in the wars while also staying true to the Bionicle world and storyline. There are many old and no-longer-made parts integrated into both of them, to help give a more "vintage" feel. All in all, one of my best, and favourite MOCs of 2012. Topped only by the MOC I built for Round Four
Stock Background used: [link] Because of the size of the Kahu, I had to create a larger background sheet for the photoshoot. I also made it black so that Tenum's white parts wouldn't become invisible - but that also meant the pictures wouldn't blend into a white background as I commonly make them. I used *3rdeye88's method of framed image over a stock background instead.
The wings on the toa are amazing, but I feel that they might look even better on a thinner, smaller one. They look like they would be able to be used on some sort of steampunk cherub
...besides, Tenum is about as thin and small as a toa can get.
