For a long time, Varrix served under Lord Maelestrakk as an Archon of Air, then Iodine after he was imbued with powers from the Soulforge. After he was prevented from saving his home island from the makuta, Varrix plotted to kill his master, and did so by manipulating his allies. The icelord, Azmyrus, destroyed the airlord in a fit of rage, and both lords perished in the fighting. Varrix's crime went undiscovered for a long time, before Ia found Azmyrus' spirit wandering the coast. Varrix was quickly arrested, trialed and sent to The Pit.

In The Pit, he immediately sought to act as a guardian for Mahri Nui, but even with his mask, he was unable to get them to trust him. He instead "joined" the ranks of Kalmah's forces, and became one of the many contenders for the Mask of Life. He would use its power to take his homeland back by force. Thankfully this never happened. When Spherus Magna reformed, Varrix ventured into the ruined Mata-Nui robot to find his island swarming with feral rahkshi.

So what powers he gains by controlling Iodine?

Well, a toa can control, absorb and create their element, so in Varrix's case he can control, absorb and create Iodine.

Since it sublimes, it's possible for him to use pieces of it like choking smoke grenades when in closed quarters.

Able to distress a being biologically by poisoning them or removing all iodine from their bodies.

If he fires crystals of iodine cold, he can force them to explode rapidly into gaseous iodine. Particularly nasty if the crystal is embedded in someone.

Can turn bread black.

Iodine is found in seawater. That's why I had him in The Pit in his storyline.

Anyway, I don't see why people make such a big deal about the squid launcher. It's not a part of the MOC, just a pre-moulded weapon.

well the launcher has had a bad rap so they immediately hate that part, but i just think it's strange a Toa with pretty much everything else custom would have a pre-molded weapon and it doesn't seem to fit him and doesn't fit the color scheme
